Legal Interpreters have a special certification that allows them to be Legally Licensed in the state of AZ and work in settings that are legally sensitive.
Interpreters without these credentials should never be used for interpreting information that has any legal ramifications or may be utilized as evidence or statements in any future court proceedings.
For example: Depositions, any court proceedings, Child Protective Service hearings or meetings, probation appointments, psychiatric evaluation, Legal Emergencies such as circumstances involving the police at hospitals.
Any situation that could be used against someone in a court of law or when a Deaf person needs to understand paperwork that could be brought up in a court of law needs to have a legally licensed Interpreter present to protect the validity of the court documents/proceedings.
