For some Deaf students reading material or text based assignments may present added complexity. To a Deaf individual, English is a second language and the written language can be particularly difficult to understand because there is no phonetic baseline to sound out words. American Sign Language is a 3D language which uses movements of the hands and face to translate written or spoken English (2D) into a conceptual visual language.
Many students can greatly benefit from having a certified and state licensed ASL Interpreter, interpret such assignments. Below, you will see our process for interpreting and delivering ASL videos for written information.
Homework Assignment Interpretation:
Step 1: Printed Materials are Emailed to scheduling@azflis.com
Step 2: Confirmation of Receipt sent
Step 3: Timeline established (typically 72 hour turnaround)
Step 4: Materials interpreted and recorded to video in office studio or interpreter’s home.
Step 5: Interpreter uploads video to AZFLIS
Step 6: AZFLIS sends a Google Drive link to you that you can share with whomever you want. Anyone with the link is able to view and download the video.
Once the video is downloaded, it can be added to your preferred online platform or sent to a teacher or student directly.
